In youth group we can be with other kids that love God and are trying to serve him, and at the same time have fun and be really silly.

We support each other and dig deep into the Bible. Youth group is one of the highlights of my week.

Children and Youth

Christian education at Mattis
Avenue is up-to-date and Bible-based with a wide range of activities available for children and teens throughout the week. Children are taught by caring, qualified teachers and teen activities are led by the youth pastor.

Programs for Children

Sunday School and Wednesday evening Christian Life Club (CLC)
involve children in a variety of activities, including music, crafts, Bible    stories and games. In addition, CLC includes field trips, Bible memory,    mission study, and recreation.

• Children’s Church provides an alternate worship experience for
children from age two through 2nd grade. For babies, a well-staffed
   nursery is provided.

• In vacation Bible school and summer camps children have additional    opportunities to play and learn.

• A bell choir and seasonal activities round out the program for children
   at Mattis Avenue.

Programs for Youth

  • Youth Group on Wednesday evening provides a setting where teens
   can laugh, pray, and learn
   together. The agenda includes
   food (of course) and music,
   Bible study, sports and games
as well. Separate groups serve    young teens (from 6th grade)
   and senior teens.

• Other regular activities for teens    include young teen and senior    teen Sunday School classes and    quiz practice in preparation for    national Bible quizzing    competition.

• Teens learn group cooperation and problem-solving as they plan
together for special events—like taking an overnight trip to Six Flags,    attending International Youth Camp in Colorado or going along on a    building mission to Mexico.

• To promote spiritual accountability, teens are linked on a voluntary
basis with an adult who serves as a prayer partner and mentor.
